In April 2025, Joanny was surprised to learn that she had won the prestigious Youth Power Award for Young Leader.

The Youth Power Awards is an organisation that celebrates inspirational young people, who are making a difference in their communities. Whether they've helped others, shown leadership, overcome challenges, or displayed an incredible talent, The Youth Power Awards want to recognise and uplift these young people. 

Romel Davis, founder of the Youth Power Awards, had these words to say following his trip to Nottingham Girls' Academy to meet Joanny.

"Joanny is a founder pupil member of the Academies Equality Group and supports other worthy causes such as the fight for racial justice in education."

"Joanny is an absolute inspiration and positive role model to her peers."
